If you’re looking to enjoy a free, family-friendly movie come out to the Sugar Land Town Square to watch The Lego Movie 2. This is a great family-friendly movie that is enjoyable for both kids and adults! The movie follows the LEGO characters as they work together to defeat their common enemy using courage and creativity! This is a super fun and cool event where they play a movie on a large projector screen outside, under the moon and stars! Come early and bring your lawn chair to get front row seats! No tickets required; the event is free.
2. Sugar Land Heritage Hike
When: Saturday, July 13th, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM

Are you interested in learning more about our great city of Sugar Land? Come join in on a Historic Walking Tour! The Sugar Land Heritage Foundation has put together a historic walking tour of Old Sugar Land that starts are the Museum and goes on for about 1 to 1.5 hours and covers about 1-1.5 miles. The tour takes its tourists back to the old days when all mostly all of the city’s businesses were managed by the Imperial Sugar Company! It also goes through the evolution of the city from a sugarcane plantation to what it is now – one of the quickest growing cities in the state of Texas! Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children from 12 to 18 and free for children under 12! If you’re unable to make it this month, don’t worry because this event is actually reoccurring on every 2nd Saturday of the month!
3. Moon Festival and Nighttime Stargazing
When: Friday, July 19th Festival 11:00 am – 2:00 pm; Stargazing 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm
Where: Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land
It’s the celebration of a very special day in science history – the 50th anniversary of the first lunar landing! The daytime festival will be packed with stellar crafts and activities. Join a NASA Ambassador to imagine what it might be like to live on the moon one day, listen to our expert docent talk about NASA’s past (and future!) with the moon, or read a space-related book to our PAWS therapy dog team – there’s so much to do! Add in special Science on a Sphere & Digital Dome presentations, plus moon-themed snacks – it all equals “spaced-out” fun!
If the weather permits, be sure to come back in the evening from 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm for stargazing with volunteer astronomers from the HMNS George Observatory. Just look for telescopes on the lawn on the south side of the museum and take your very own flight of fancy to the stars.
4. Apollo Day at George Observatory
When: Saturday, July 20th, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM
Where: George Observatory, 21901 FM 762 Road, Needville, TX 77461
Come out to Apollo Day at the George Observatory to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the legendary Moon Landing! At this event, we will be celebrating the past, present, and future landings of the moon with engaging speakers and fun filled activities! Visitors will have the chance to go inside the Discovery Dome, which will feature the moon. Tickets for the Discovery Dome will be $3.50 per person and there will be a show every 30 minutes. Visitors will also be able to purchase telescope tickets and the telescopes allow you to see planets and deep space objects. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $9 for children.
Note: The George Observatory is located within the Brazos Bend State Park. Entrance to the park is $7 for adults and free for children 12 and under. Entry to the Brazos Bend State Park ends at 9:30 PM.
5. Fit Foodie Family 5K & Kids’ K
When: Saturday, July 27th from 6am to 11am
